Fingal City Council (Ireland)

Fingal is located on the northern edge of the capital city of Dublin and is one of 4 municipal authorities

in the Dublin metropolitan area. Fingal has a mix of urban and rural areas and includes 88km of scenic coastline. The county is rich in cultural heritage with key tourist attractions including Ardgillan Demense, Newbridge House, Malahide Castle & Gardens and Skerries Mills.

A key challenge for Fingal is to alleviate social exclusion and poverty and to improve provision of recreational and community infrastructure and improve access to information and resources. Fingal has a Public Participation Network (PPN) with more than 850 representatives of groups and organisations working on a community and voluntary basis in the county and allowing the municipality to consult and share information with these groups.

The PPN works to empower the community to be represented in decision making processes that impact citizens through representation on committees of the municipalities and in consultation processes.
