A NEW CHAPTER OF SOLIDARITY LEAD BY YOUTH – PROJECT FINAL EVENT AND LAST CONFERENCE (THE NETHERLANDS)

The InclusEU Final Event in Heerlen took place from September 18-20, 2024, the city of Heerlen, Netherlands, hosted the final event of the InclusEU project, bringing together young leaders and organizations from across Europe to reflect on the power of volunteerism and social inclusion.
Almost 80 participants from 8 countries participated in the encounter which had and important political presence.
This closing event marked the culmination of a two-year journey focused on youth engagement, social participation, and innovative solutions to post-pandemic challenges. Participants from eight European countries—Spain, Italy, Romania, Poland, Ireland, Portugal, Hungary, and the Netherlands—gathered for conferences, debates, and interactive workshops, shaping the future of youth-led community action.

The main event activities were:

✅ Turning Mental Health Research into Action – Experts and young participants discussed youth mental well-being post-COVID and explored strategies to improve support systems.
✅ Volunteerism & Social Inclusion – A reflection on the impact of the InclusEU project, featuring policymakers and young volunteers sharing best practices.
✅ Neighbourhoods of the Future – A hands-on LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® session where youth designed their vision for ideal communities.
✅ Cultural Exchange – Students from Spain and the Netherlands collaborated through art and storytelling, strengthening cross-cultural connections.
✅ City Tour & Local Innovation – Participants explored Heerlen’s transformation through art, innovation, and community-driven projects.

The closure was also an opportunity to look backwards and analyze the lasting impact of the Inclus EU project: Over the past 24 months, nearly 600 young participants engaged in the InclusEU project, contributing to social projects, policy discussions, and international collaborations. The Heerlen conference served as a springboard for future youth-led initiatives, ensuring that the spirit of solidarity and inclusion continues to thrive across Europe.
