EUROPEAN POLICIES TO SUPORT VOLUNTARISM (ROMANIA)

The WP5 event, “European Policies to Support Youth Volunteering,” focused on showcasing various opportunities offered by the European Commission, such as Erasmus+ funding, Euroscola, the Solidarity Corps, and the Norwegian Funds. Participants gained insights into initiatives supporting solidarity and volunteering within the EU.

Key Activities:

  • Seminar: “The Main Opportunities of the European Commission in Volunteerism” explored EU funding programs, digital tools, and European projects in the field of volunteerism.
  • Debate: “The Future is Present” engaged participants in discussions on social inclusion and community integration.
  • Seminar: “Volunteer Incubator” highlighted successful practices in local schools related to cohesion, inclusion, and solidarity.
  • Creative Lab: “Ideas for a Better Europe” encouraged new project ideas centered on social support, inclusion, and volunteering.

Over 70 participants from eight countries attended, with equal gender representation.

The event opened with a speech by Mr. Laviniu Lacusta, President of USLIP, and featured the Vice Mayor of Iasi, Daniel Juravle. Presentations covered topics such as Erasmus+ projects, Europe Direct, and examples from NGOs like EuroEd and Bethany.

A questionnaire was also used to guide the debate on social inclusion, examining key concerns such as supporting rural youth, balancing wildlife preservation with human security, AI’s impact on social life, and climate change action. The event also featured volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps.

Through these discussions, the event fostered community cohesion and highlighted ongoing efforts to combat social exclusion in local communities.
