OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE TO YOUTH IN VOLUNTEERISM (PORTUGAL)

The project InclusEU is funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency under the European program CERV-2022-CITIZENS-TOWN (Project Number: 101091275), and took place on April 15th and 16th, 2024, in Viana do Castelo (Portugal), involving participants from eight countries: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Ireland, Romania, The Netherlands, and Poland. The first day of inclusEU kicked off aboard the Gil Eannes Ship with a warm welcome to the participants by AJD President, Verónica Rocha, and Viana do Castelo’s Councillor, Carlota Borges.

Later, at the Municipal Library, a panel discussion was held focusing on the main opportunities available to youth in the realm of volunteerism, featuring Dora Brandão, Raul Manarte, Ana Rita Veiga, Kyra Sousa, Janessa Costa, and João Alexandre.

In the afternoon, inclusEU’s participants enjoyed a visit to the Sanctuary of Santa Luzia followed by a team-building kayaking activity.

Day two at inclusEU’s Portugal event was filled with empowering activities! InclusEU’s partners joined forces with Young Ambassadors of the European Parliament from the Secondary School of Monserrate to simulate a parliamentary debate on supporting youth affected by the pandemic through volunteering.

Later, we heard inspiring testimonials from GMIM, the Local Volunteer Bank of Viana do Castelo, and AJD.

In the afternoon, we explored the Costume Museum and enjoyed a captivating performance by the talented Hinoportuna academic tuna.
